About Us
The Church on the Slab is a fellowship of believers in Fort Worth, Texas primarily consisting of homeless veterans, elderly and the working poor. Many congregants are street people who — as their experiences have shown — would not be welcomed in many traditional churches. The Church on the Slab is founded on a principle that the gospel is bigger than the dividing lines of race, class, gender and ethnicity.
The Church on the Slab seeks to “Advance, with purposefulness, the cause of the gospel of Jesus Christ.” This is accomplished through a defined mission and a committed, dedicated team.
Ms. Cherryll Lynn Wallace, a native of Kalispell, Montana, is Senior Pastor at The Church on the Slab. Pastor Cherryll joined the Staff of Daily Bread Ministries in 1999. This ministry, founded by the late Roy Gray, was created in 1992 to provide meals to the street people of Fort Worth.
The Church on the Slab closed after Roy’s untimely death during a mission trip to Honduras in 2001.
In 2006, Pastor Cherryll -- along with another Pastor (Mr. Alvin Sandlin) re-established the ministry as a beacon of hope in the community.
Sunday service begins promptly at 9:30 a.m. This includes praise, worship and teaching based singularly on the Holy Scriptures.
At the close of the service, volunteers provide nearly 170 meals and distribute clothing and hygiene kits.
The Church on the Slab accepts clothing and donations between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m daily. Donations are accepted outside of these times by appointment only. Contact Deacon Jayson Leigh at 817.810.0996. We are unable to accept deliveries on Sunday.
